7 Simple Ways to Bring Jesus Into Your Home

This blog shares seven simple and practical ways to invite Jesus into your home—through worship, scripture, prayer, hospitality, intentional spaces, daily interactions, and gratitude—so that your house becomes filled with His peace and presence. At its core, it’s about choosing daily rhythms that declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve learned that our home feels completely different when we intentionally invite Jesus into it. A house is just walls and a roof, but when His presence fills it, it becomes a place filled with His joy and peace. A place where He is welcome, and the things that are not of Him… are not.

Friends, bringing Jesus into your home isn’t a series of complicated steps, it’s merely an invitation to allow Him to do the things he wants to do in your marriage, and in your home.

So, here are 7 simple ways to bring Jesus into your home.

1. Play Worship Music Around the House

There’s just something about worship music that changes the atmosphere. When I have worship music playing while I’m cleaning, cooking, or even changing a diaper, I can feel the heaviness lift. It reminds me that God is near, even in the mundane parts of the day.

Psalm 96:1 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.” Filling your home with worship is a physical way of declaring that His presence is welcome here.

Try this: Have a date night where you make a Spotify playlist together of your favorite worship songs.

2. Hang Bible Verses Where You’ll See Them

Before I was pregnant with our son, we had the carpet redone in his (now) room. If you know our story, you know we waited a lonnng time for him. During that season, we wrote scripture on the subfloor of his nursery, declaring that one day we will hold a baby in that room.

In Deuteronomy 6:6-9, God told His people to write His commands on their doorframes and teach them to their children. His Word was meant to be woven into daily life, not tucked away on a shelf. One of the ways to write scripture on your heart is to put it in places where you can see it and memorize it.

Our home is covered in scripture. And no, not the cheesy “Live, Laugh, Love” signs you might find at Hobby Lobby (no hate, we love Hobby Lobby!) But beautiful tapestries and banners that remind us that the Lord is still faithful even in difficult seasons. Whether it’s a framed verse on the wall, a sticky note on the bathroom mirror, or a chalkboard in the kitchen with a verse of the week, make God's Word a part of your home.

Try this: Pick one verse that speaks to your current season and place it somewhere you’ll see it often.

3. Pray Over Your Home

Prayer is one of the most powerful things you can do for your marriage, and your home. Walk from room to room and pray over the people who live there, the guests who will visit, and the conversations that will take place. Ask for God’s protection, peace, and joy to fill every corner.

And don’t stop there. Make prayer a normal rhythm in your home. When prayer becomes part of the atmosphere, your home will naturally be covered in God’s presence.

Try this: If you’ve never done it before, dedicate your home to the Lord. Pray something simple like, “Jesus, this house is yours. Use our home as a place for your presence to dwell, and that those who step inside would feel your love.”

4. Create a Cozy Spot for Quiet Time

Having a little space set aside for prayer, reading the Bible, or journaling can make such a difference. It doesn’t need to be fancy, maybe just a chair in the corner with a blanket, your Bible, and a notebook. It becomes your little “prayer closet” to spend time with the Lord.

Try this: Encourage your spouse to create their own (or shared) quiet space in the house to use that spot when they want to spend time with the Lord.

5. Open Your Home to Others

Inviting people in doesn’t have to be this big event. Honestly, some of the most meaningful times we’ve had with friends were around a messy table with empty Chick-fil-A chicken nugget containers in the middle. What matters is that people feel loved and welcome when they step into your home.

Romans 12:13 says, “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Hospitality is simply making room for others the way Jesus makes room for us.

Try this: Start small. Invite a neighbor over for coffee or host a simple dinner for a friend. You’ll be amazed at how God can use your home to encourage someone else.

6. Show Jesus Through the Way You Treat Each Other

This might be the most important one. How we talk to and treat the people inside our home says more about our faith than anything hanging on the walls. When forgiveness, kindness, and patience are part of our daily rhythm, our homes become living testimonies of God’s love.

Ephesians 4:32 tells us, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” None of us get it right all the time, but choosing grace and gentleness creates an atmosphere that points straight to Jesus. Remember, your marriage is one of the biggest displays of the gospel. People are watching how you and your spouse interact.

Try this: Talk as a family about the values you want to live out. Maybe for you it’s things like kindness, honesty, and patience. Write them down somewhere visible and let them guide the way you interact.

7. Celebrate Jesus in Everyday Moments

Jesus doesn’t just want to be part of Sundays. He wants your whole week and wants to be woven into every part of life. That means celebrating Him in little daily rhythms: sharing what you’re grateful for at dinner, reading a devotion together, or pausing to thank Him when something good happens. Here’s a blog on how to increase your spiritual intimacy as a couple.

Try this: At dinner, go around the table and share one “praise report” or good thing that happened to you that day. It’s a simple way to practice gratitude together.

Final Thoughts

Friend, inviting Jesus into your home isn’t about having it all together or doing everything perfectly. It’s about being intentional. Creating little spaces, moments, and rhythms that remind you (and everyone who walks through your door) that He’s welcome here.

I keep going back to Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That’s the heart of it, isn’t it? Not perfection. Just a daily decision that our homes (and our lives) belong to Him.
